Details after the break

Rudy Rucker Art Show premiere and event for THE BIG AHA! (Transreal Press, Trade Paperback, $16.00) Friday, January 17th from 5:30 - 7:30 pm - We're always happy to host mathematician, professor, artist and surreal genius Rudy Rucker at Borderlands! Join us to check out his new book, THE BIG AHA!, in which "Biotech has replaced machines and Qrude artist Zad Plant works with living paint.  Career’s on the skids, wife Jane threw him out.  Enter qwet -- it’s quantum wetware!  Qwet makes you high, and gives you telepathy.  A loofy psychedelic revolution begins.  Oh-oh! Mouths in midair, eating people!  Zad and Jane travel through a wormhole -- and meet the aliens.  Stranger than you ever imagined." In addition to this fantastic and zany new book, Rudy will be showing off his newest artwork, which will be on display in the Cafe.

Scott Sigler, PANDEMIC (Crown, Hardcover, $26.00) Saturday, January 18th at 3:00 pm - Help us give a warm welcome to the Future Dark Overlord, Scott Sigler!  PANDEMIC wraps up Scott's INFECTED trilogy.  Here's the synopsis from Scott's website: Scott Sigler’s INFECTED shocked readers with a visceral, up-close account of physical metamorphosis and one man’s desperate fight for sanity and survival, as “Scary” Perry Dawsey suffered the impact of an alien pathogen’s early attempts at mass extinction. In the sequel CONTAGIOUS, Sigler pulled back the camera and let the reader experience the frantic national response to this growing cataclysm.  And now in PANDEMIC, the entire human race balances on the razor’s edge of annihilation, beset by an enemy that turns our own bodies against us, that changes normal people into psychopaths or transforms them into nightmares. . . . Part Cthulhu epic, part zombie apocalypse and part blockbuster alien-invasion tale, PANDEMIC completes the INFECTED trilogy and sets a new high water mark in the world of horror fiction."

Bay Area Sword and Laser Meetup, Monday, January 20th at 5:00 pm - Join Veronica and Tom for the Bay Area Sword and Laser Meetup!  Veronica says "We'll be reading selections from the Anthology, discussing the current book pick, The Einstein Intersection by Samuel R. Delany, and then heading across the street for adult libations afterwards!  The event is free, but we'll have plenty of copies of the February book pick on hand to purchase. Plus, Borderlands is awesome, and you won't be able to leave the store empty-handed!"  See this link for details and info on RSVP-ing: http://swordandlaser.com/home/2013/12/15/san-francisco-meet-up-jan-20th-at-borderlands

Blake Charlton, SPELLBOUND (Tor, Mass Market, $7.99) and John R. Fultz, SEVEN SORCERERS (Orbit, Trade Paperback, $17.00) Saturday, January 25th at 3:00 pm - We're delighted to welcome fantasy authors Blake Charlton and John R. Fultz back to the store!  We hope you'll enjoy hanging out with them and hearing about their new titles and upcoming work.

JUST ADDED! Patrick Rothfuss, Monday, January 27th at 7:00 pm - We're thrilled to announce a surprise reading, Q&A, and signing with Patrick Rothfuss, beloved author of NAME OF THE WIND, WISE MAN'S FEAR, and two very delightful yet distressing books about THE PRINCESS AND MR. WHIFFLE.  In addition to writing two (so far) of the most popular fantasy titles in recent memory (& history), Patrick may be the only person alive who has ever successfully convinced a college Resident Assistant that a guinea pig was, in fact, a fish.  He also has the distinction of being the only author we've ever hosted for a signing at midnight.  We certainly hope you'll join us to meet Pat at this much more reasonable hour, get some books signed, and hear more hilarious and unnerving stories.
